Radio over IP

ROIP is Sky Robots’ aviation radio communications product. A Remote Radio Interface Unit (RRIU) connects a site aviation radio to authorised pilots and control rooms through an internet-connected browser. The South African team develops and integrates the hardware and software.

Remote airband access across authorised sites

One pilot can access several authorised radio sites, while several pilots can share the same installed site radio. Managed push-to-talk access and clear transmission status support coordination between users. The busy indicator covers connected ROIP transmissions; external RF occupancy requires separate monitoring.

Radio use remains subject to authorised access, operating procedures and the applicable aviation and spectrum rules.

Stored audio, transcription and AI reporting

Radio audio is recorded centrally with timestamps. Authorised users can retrieve recordings by date and time, creating an operational record for supervision, audit reviews and incident investigations.

Speech-to-text transcription uses the OpenAI API. AI-generated reports provide derivative analysis of recorded communications.

Original recordings remain the authoritative reference. AI transcripts and summaries support analysis and may contain errors.

What the site installation includes

The standard site package includes one aviation radio unit, its Remote Radio Interface Unit (RRIU), configured control equipment and software. Connectivity, antennas, masts, on-site installation and country-specific licences or approvals are quoted or arranged separately as applicable.

Recording access, retention and privacy requirements must be agreed for the intended deployment.

Software, communications and the operator environment

ROIP provides aviation radio access and communication records. Command & Control supplies the operator environment. SkyOS provides separate aircraft-condition analysis and has a wider operational platform roadmap.

For combined systems, the engineering scope identifies the radio sites, user access, connectivity and supported software connections.

Connect authorised operators to site radio

For a ROIP enquiry, include the radio sites, number of users, operating country and recording requirements.
